Feed Ye Not The Grad Student

Every now an' then, I like to hit the Next Blog on a blogger hosted blog. Here's the payload from the latest click:
How are we supposed to entice the current crop of super-genii rolling out of undergraduate to assume the glorious mantle of scientist with an attitude like that?

g. it could always be the other way round and the notice is the work of the graduate students themselves, who are so appreciated that people travel from miles around to overburden them with a constant stream of epicurean delights. as such, they have decided that a written disincentive is the way forward.

you may have jumped to a conclusion here through being more familiar with "please do not feed the animals" signs, which i am fairly sure the animals do not transcribe themselves. however, it is my contention that graduate students possess usually both the power of speech and the power to write.

alternatively, you could be right. maybe it is time to reopen the X files, after all.

Mebbe those Berkeley grad-school cats are awash in goodies brought to them by an appreciative fan base. I have to admit that I damn near jerked my knee out of place with a "it must be 'do not feed the animals!'" reaction. Must go investigate... TO BERKELEY!
