As I said in my State of the Union address, liberty is not America's gift to the world. Liberty is God's gift to human -- to the human -- mankind.

Larry King: Vice President Gore said that: "If you lopped off the top 1% that you are giving tax relief ... you could pay for the cost of every other program."
Bush: "Oh, I don't -- you know, I hadn't -- I'm not so sure. I'm not quick in my mind at math, but I don't believe in trying to pick and choose winners when it comes to tax relief."

I think we're making progress. We understand where the power of this country lay. It lays in the hearts and souls of Americans. It must lay in our pocketbooks. It lays in the willingness for people to work hard. But as importantly, it lays in the fact that we've got citizens from all walks of life, all political parties, that are willing to say, I want to love my neighbor.

Read Ye Dan Froomkin
I shoulda put this update in its own post, but I didn't. What I will do, however is take this moment to direct you to Dan Froomkin and his White House Briefing. Due to the lamosity of the WP link scheme/page layout, they don't have a neat WHB place to go to, but you can go to the politics page and look for him. Here's a picture:

Presidential Debate in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Let me start by telling you this: I have never used steroids. Period, I don't know how to say it any more clearly than that. Never.
Rafael Palmeiro (Under oath, in front of Congress)
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to explain to the arbitrator how the banned substance entered my body. The arbitrator did not find that I used a banned substance intentionally.
Rafael Palmeiro (After being busted for testing positive for 'roids)
I'm sure there's a nice slot for RP in the Bush Administration.
UPDATE:
Dag! Gotta love being quasi-prescient. W with some Texas print types:
Why does he do this? Because he thinks he's invincible! From the same gaggle-esque Bushfest:
Kudos to Dan Froomkin for the goods.

Well, Rafael Palmeiro is a friend. He's testified in public, and I believe him. He's the kind of person that's going to stand up in front of the klieg lights and say he didn't use steroids, and I believe him. Still do. -- GWB 2 Aug 2005
